Dive into a week-long adventure of color, texture, and creativity in stained glass! In this hands-on class, students will explore different techniques and structures while designing vibrant pieces that showcase their personal artistic vision. Experiment with layering, shaping, and combining colors to bring your unique glass creations to life.
You will learn the basics of copper foil (Tiffany-style) stained glass techniques, including cutting, foiling, and soldering.
Metal Magic: Create Your Own Wearable Art!

Learn to weave your very own tapestry! This course will teach students the foundational skills of weaving on a frame loom as well as exploring the world of natural dyes. You will learn a number of weaving methods like sumac, twining, stripes, clasped weft, rya, tufting and making more complex shapes/designs. Students will also be taught the different types of fibers and their properties and how to dye them with things like marigolds, cochineal, madder, etc. This will be a relaxing experimentation of color and texture and how they can bring a tapestry to life!
The Miniature Village with Polymer Clay
Cost: $270

Students will explore the fundamentals of polymer clay while creating their own miniature enchanted village with other found and recycled materials. They will learn shaping, texturing, color-blending, and sculpture techniques as they design tiny cottages, whimsical characters, and charming accessories. Throughout the week, students will build pieces that come together in their own village installation, and make wearable clay creations to take home, such as pendants, buttons, or keychains. This class encourages creativity and storytelling to bring an imaginary world to life.

Fiber Art Adventure: From Loom to Luxe Pillow

This week, students will explore a variety of fiber arts techniques. They will learn to weave on different types of looms while having fun with many different types of materials, yarns, and techniques. After creating their own handwoven fabric, students will embroider designs onto it. The week will conclude with sewing a decorative pillow using their finished fabric.

Crochet Creatures & Creations!

Students will learn many of the basic crocheting techniques, like starting a chain, single and double crochet stitches, and making a magic circle. After mastering these skills, they’ll bring their imagination to life by creating colorful patchwork squares and adorable crochet creatures! From tiny animals to whimsical monsters, students can turn their yarn creations into wearable art, bags, scarves, and more!

Creative Chemistry: Maker Lab

Experiment like an artist! Embrace science as you make your own art materials, then create with them. We will dye yarn to weave, extract pigments from plants, and mix watercolor and tempera paints to paint with, mix our own glue for collages, and even design our own crayons!
Kiln Formed Glass Survey
Cost: $450

Have you ever seen a shiny glass sculpture, a colorful bowl, or a sparkly piece of glass jewelry and wondered how it was made? Glass is magical – it melts, moves, and changes right before your eyes! In this class, you’ll explore the fun world of kilnformed glass. We’ll learn the basics of fusing, slumping, and even glass casting.
You’ll get to create all kinds of projects, starting with simple bowls and plates and then trying out more creative, sculptural pieces.

Wearable Sculpture

We will learn how to use a template or pattern to make lightweight, wearable sculptures! Students can bring in their own clothes to make into a pattern or we can print our own. No sewing required, fashion show at the end of the week!

Sculpture with an Armature
Cost: $420

We will be making sculptures “in the round”, three dimensionally with an inner structure. Students will design their sculptures, build the armatures, and then decorate them with mixed media of their choice.
Cosmic Glass Creations: Stained Glass Suns & Planets

Planets and solar system in stained glass. We will create planetary mobiles, visions of the night sky and happy Suns.
You will learn the basics of copper foil (Tiffany-style) stained glass techniques, including cutting, foiling, and soldering.
For All Classes: All materials provided. No prior experience necessary. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Please bring lunch & snacks for this all day course.

Streetwear Fashion Design + Videography

Step into the world of streetwear design and create your own brand! Students will learn how real clothing brands come to life. They’ll discover the legacy of streetwear, design their own brand identity and logo using Adobe Express, then apply their graphics to a T-shirt, hoodie, or pair of pants using Cricut vinyl or fabric paint. Studying iconic brands along the way, students will write, direct, and edit a short commercial for their brand. To showcase their work, the class will host a fashion show at the end of the week. No prior experience is necessary.
Medieval Wonders: Stained Glass Adventures

Step back in time and bring the magic of the Middle Ages to life through stained glass! In this imaginative class, students will design and create colorful castles, dragons, shields, and other medieval-inspired scenes.
You will learn the basics of copper foil (Tiffany-style) stained glass techniques, including cutting, foiling, and soldering.
Chainmail Jewelry & Keychains + Create Your Own Wearable Art!
Cost: $450

In the morning workshop, students will learn the basics of chainmail construction. Chainmail, historically used as armor, is made by interlocking small metal rings to form chains and sheets in different patterns. Using two pairs of pliers to manipulate colorful anodized aluminum rings, students will design and construct their own chainmail bracelets, keychains, and more!
In the afternoon, student will learn basic metalsmith skills and techniques, including forming, etching, stamping, sawing, and wire wrapping. We will make unique personalized wearable art like cuffs and necklaces. As well as making keychains and charms!

Fantasy Game Making

Create your very own board, card, or adventure game from scratch! Over the course of the week, you’ll design imaginative worlds, characters, and challenges, then bring them to life with handmade boards, cards, and game pieces. Along the way, you’ll play-test, refine your ideas, and wrap up by sharing your one-of-a-kind game in a fun final showcase!
Bloom in Glass: Stained Glass Flower Garden
Cost: $270

In this 3 day summer escape, we will focus on flowers and other natural vegetation, including plant pokes, leaves, and other bright colored garden flowers.

Comic Book Creation & Digital Art

Bring your stories to life in this fun, hands-on Comic Book Creation! Learn how to design characters, build storylines, and illustrate your own comic using both traditional drawing tools and digital programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. By the end of the week, you’ll print and take home your very own comic book masterpiece!
Stamping, Sawing, and Shaping – Intro to Metalsmithing
Cost: $450

In this 5 day workshop, students will learn the basics of metalsmithing. Using copper and brass metal sheets, students will learn to use a torch to soften and stamp metal. These stamped pieces can be personalized with words, numbers, and designs. Using a handsaw, students will learn the art of hand-piercing to create cut-out designs of their choosing that can be turned into charms, pendants, and earrings. We will learn to shape metal to create ring forms, cuff bracelets, and linked necklaces. Students will also use tooling metal sheet to create a 2D art piece as they learn the art of metal embossing. All levels welcome. Students can expect to learn a wide range of metalsmithing techniques and create jewelry as well as small-scale sculptures.

Introduction to 2D Animation

Have you ever watched an animated movie and wondered what it takes to get into the animation world? Join the summer session at the Worcester Center for Crafts, where you will learn the basics of 2D Animation! We will watch some clips of cartoons, and together we will compile a video collection of short animations.
Exploring Enameling and Identity
Cost: $450

Let’s explore enameling together! In this course, students will learn the basics of enameling through three basic enameling techniques: sifting, stenciling, and sgraffito. Students will also learn basic jewelry sawing techniques. They will explore the concept of identity and create their own personalized motif. Students will use their personalized motif to create pins, pendants, and more!
Week 6: Magic in Motion Week (5 days) | August 3- August 7, 9:00am- 3:00pm
Creative Movie Making (Week 6 & 7)

Over the course of a two week class, students will develop their skills in camera operation, sound design, editing, directing, on set collaboration, and most of all storytelling. This would be achieved via daily demos followed by hands-on activities. During the first week, some smaller activities would result in projects being completed in a day. In the second week, the entire class would work together to complete a single larger short film. In addition, there will be a daily screening (provided it is not a workday) to help build out the student’s narrative references. The students will create a 15 minute narrative short that they write, direct, and star in. Students will walk away from this week with at least three projects to show to their parents & guardians.

Students will work with stained glass to create an animal menagerie. The focus can be on cats and dogs, horses, or more exotic creatures like elephants and giraffes! Student imagination required!

Solar Printmaking: The Art and Science of Cyanotypes

In this course, we’ll learn the basics of cyanotype printing – an alternative printing process that uses sunlight to produce vibrant blue images and designs. Join us as we create colorful mobiles, personalized tote bags, handmade journals of our printing exploration, and more!
