A supportive environment

Become a Creative Maker

Glass half-full? Half-empty? Doesn’t matter; come learn how to stain it and fuse it! From beginner-level classes like our general Beginner Stained Glass class to returning participants furthering their skills in the All Level Stained Glass course, all creators will have an outlet at the Worcester Center for Crafts!

Is that you… peeking through the glass? Looking for more information? We couldn’t be happier. Browse our class listings below or visit our registration page and sign-up for a class now!

Beginner/Intermediate Stained Glass

During the first class the instructor will teach you all the steps you need to know while you create a small stained glass suncatcher. The rest of the classes will be dedicated to a design choice of your own.

Advanced Stained Glass

This stained glass class is offered to anyone who has gone through the beginner 6 week stained glass class. The complexity of the projects and types of projects will be geared towards more advanced students.

All Level Stained Glass

Create stained glass treasures in this ongoing 6 week course! Designing, cutting, shaping and soldering will all be covered for new beginners. No stained glass experience is necessary. For returning students furthering your skills with more advanced templates and project ideas will be explored thoroughly.

Make Your Own Sun Catcher

Layer pieces of flat glass and heat them in a kiln until they melt together in one piece, a process that is also known as fusing.

Fused Glass Jewelry: Pendants

Create your own fused glass pendants with a range of colors provided for you. There will be plenty of templates and ideas for designs or you can bring your own!

All Levels Enameling

Enameling is an ancient process in which vitreous glass and enamel are fused and bonded onto metal by kiln firing. This course will cover various techniques, including cloisonne, wet grisaille, sgraffito, decals, and stenciling.

Open Studios

We know it takes time, patience and work to develop craft skills. Open Studio is an option designed to help students who are enrolled in our multi-week classes practice their skills and develop their work. Think of Open Studio as self-directed homework time during extra available studio hours.

Earn Credits

The Worcester Center for Crafts offers professional development points for all Worcester Center for Crafts Studio classes. These classes meet the requirements for content-based courses for re-licensure.

If you’re interested in filing for professional development points with the state of Massachusetts, please review your requirements stipulated by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary (ESE) or your school district. Many of the Craft Center’s classes are eligible as professional development activities, and the Registration Office is happy to provide you with a record of enrollment and course completion certificate once confirmation is received from your instructor of your full course completion.

To initiate the PDP process, please inform the Registration Office via email at wccregistration@worcester.edu at the start of the session to indicate that you will require PDP documentation at the end of term. Then, at the end of your last class, please email the office once more to request your records, which will then be emailed or mailed to the student address on file.

Scholarships & Awards

We believe that everyone can benefit from taking craft classes. The Worcester Center for Crafts Adult Artist Award is presented to an individual that exemplifies an appreciation for the arts and an interest in our creative community. The recipient of this award will receive a scholarship to attend a course at Worcester Center for Crafts.

APPLY

An email or phone call will inform you whether you qualify for the award. Decisions on placement generally occur less than a week before classes begin as we wait to see if there is sufficient enrollment for the class to run. Placement in the preferred class is not guaranteed. If you wish to secure a seat in a specific class, paid registration is advised.

Application Deadline: All application materials are due to the Craft Center two Fridays before the scheduled start of the session for which you are applying.
