Fall classes are open for registration!

Take a peek on what we’re offering this fall.

A supportive environment

Become a Creative Maker

Youth classes for students ages 6 – 17 provide youth and teens with opportunities for hands-on making and creative development. Our classes are fun, engaging, and educational.

Youth multi-week classes introduce young people to the skills and creativity of making, and to the art, aesthetics, science, math, and design that are fundamental in craft making. Explore the great traditions of craft while developing skills needed as 21st-century learners and doers: creative thinking, perseverance, process, hypothesizing, and three-dimensional imagining.

Teens at the Wheel (14-17 years)

Take a seat at the wheel! Instructor demonstration and hands-on exploration will grow your ceramics techniques while developing your own unique style.

Family Friday Night Fun - Needle Felting

Let’s make adorable needle felted animals! In this class, you will learn how to sculpt animals by using needle felting technique.

Family Fun with Clay - Adult and Child Clay

One of our most popular classes returns, bringing families together in an atmosphere of creativity and fun. Adults and children learn together about pinch pots, coil pots, and using slips and glazes for color while making wild and wonderful things together!

Family Beginner Knitting

Come learn how to knit in a fun class! By using only 2 needles and a strand of yarn, you will learn how to cast on and off, along with basic stitches including knit, purl, stockinette, garter, seed stitch and ribbing. Learn how to change colors too!

Family Felted Soap Making

Felted soap making is a great activity for creating unique gifts! In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn both wet felting and needle felting techniques and take away 2 pretty soaps with you.

Family Fused Glass Holiday Sun Catchers

Create your own colorful fused glass holiday suncatchers. There will be plenty of templates and ideas for designs, or bring your own!

Earn Credits

The Worcester Center for Crafts, in partnership with Worcester State University, is now offering professional development points for all Worcester Center for Crafts Studio classes. These classes meet the requirements for content-based courses for re-licensure.

If you’re interested in filing for professional development points with the state of Massachusetts, please review your requirements stipulated by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary (ESE) or your school district. Many of the Craft Center’s classes are eligible as professional development activities, and the Registration Office is happy to provide you with a record of enrollment and course completion certificate once confirmation is received from your instructor of your full course completion.

To initiate the PDP process, please inform the Registration Office via email at wccregistration@worcester.edu at the start of the session to indicate that you will require PDP documentation at the end of term. Then, at the end of your last class, please email the office once more to request your records, which will then be emailed or mailed to the student address on file.

Scholarships & Awards

We believe that everyone can benefit from taking craft classes. The Worcester Center for Crafts Adult Artist Award is presented to an individual that exemplifies an appreciation for the arts and an interest in our creative community. The recipient of this award will receive a scholarship to attend a course at Worcester Center for Crafts.

APPLY

An email or phone call will inform you whether you qualify for the award. Decisions on placement generally occur less than a week before classes begin as we wait to see if there is sufficient enrollment for the class to run. Placement in preferred class is not guaranteed. If you wish to secure a seat in a specific class, paid registration is advised.

Application Deadline: All application materials are due to the Craft Center two Fridays before the scheduled start of the session for which you are applying.
