Tuition and Fees: Member Fee: $36 / Non-Member Fee: $40 / Materials Fee: $12
Dave Eaton / Beginner / Wood Studio

All levels of skill are welcome to join in on the fun of making a hollow form vase. Beginners will focus on a very simple dry flower vase typically referred to as a "weed pot" using only the standard tools you may already own. Turners with more experience may choose to tackle an advanced technique, very elegant hollow vase with much thinner sides and only a small opening at the top using specialized tools easily made from low cost materials available at local hardware store. With this one your friends will ask "how in the world did you get the wood out of the inside?" Regardless of the complexity or style you make, these all make great gifts for both "Mom" or that special friend.

You'll learn to add embellishments like texturing or wire burning to the surface of a solid or multicolor laminated wood stopper to make your creation especially beautiful. Each student will complete one or two bottle stoppers and take them home for display or to be used. They make terrific, simple and personal "anytime" gifts for friends, especially when paired up with a bottle of your favorite wine. A great use for small pieces or scraps of expensive woods you may have lying around. Feel free to bring some to class to see!
